Riverquarium Visit

We took a visit to the local aquarium yesterday, a perk of my husband's military service. Thank you to the Blue Star Families program, and my husband, for choosing to serve. We had a a great time, and here are some pics for you!!

This is a common snapping turtle. He is still dangerous, and grows to a very large size. Almost always found in water, or very close to it. Still not as big as this guy:

This is an alligator snapping turtle. You do not want to mess with him-he can easily break a broomstick with 1,000 lbs/square inch of bite power. This particular turtle is 75-80 years old, and easily 100 lbs.

This is an amphiuma-he's not an eel, he's a salamander!! He actually has two rudimentary feet for moving around, and can reach 45 inches. They are native to our area, not sure what I'll do if he ends up in our pool!

These fish are creepy-they don't have eyes! I think they live in caves.

Baby alligators! Some boys, being boys, were running their fingers along the glass, and the gators were trying to bite their fingers.

This is everything river! Fish, turtles, and alligators. Anyone up for swimming?
